Your First Sweater

Description: This class is for first time sweater knitter who wants to learn one piece sweater knitting. We will supply a basic pullover sweater that can be adjusted to have the sleeve and body length of your choice. (This image shows a short sleeve sweater but you can make long sleeves if you want!)

This class is held once a month. You can join any time, you do not need to take this workshop in any particular order or time frame: you will sign up for each class separately and work at your own pace.

Materials: Bulky weight yarn (600-800 yards), Size 9 (16") and 10 (16" and 32" or longer) needles needles, scissors, darning needle, stitch markers, tape measure. Pen and paper is always useful to write down notes. *Don’t choose dark yarn for your first sweater.

Please buy your sweater materials at Cast Away. Be sure to show up to class on time with materials ready and swatch made if required (first session only).

Experience Needed: You should already have these basic skills: knit, purl, increase, decrease, knitting in the round, bind off. 

Homework: Knit a gauge swatch- your gauge should be 4 st / 6 rows per inch. Stitch  gauge is more important than row gauge. let us know if you need instructions for this.
