Learn to Knit Cables

Class Cost: $20

Learn four different ways to make a cable and make a cowl or scarf!

You will learn how to: read a chart, make a mock cable, and make front and back cables with and without a cable needle.

You should already know how to: cast on, knit, purl, recognize stitches, and work in a rib pattern.

Note: this class has homework to be completed before the class starts! See below for instructions.

Required materials (choose one):

For a cowl: 220 yards of a worsted weight yarn, US 8 (6.5 mm) 24" circular needles, 1 stitch marker, and a cable needle. We used 1 skein of Manos Del Uruguay's Gloria in #2206, "Bodega."

For a scarf: 500 yards of a DK weight yarn, US 5 straight or short circular needles, and a cable needle. We used 2 skeins of Zen Garden's Serenity DK in "Indigo."

Spring and summer are our slow seasons, so we teach all of our classes in two weekly group sessions where students can learn different things at the same time. For this class, sign up for one hour (two back-to-back time slots) of either of our workshops on Mondays or Thursdays. You can also schedule a private lesson.
